Soteck Clauger: Air Treatment, Industrial Refrigeration, and Energy Efficiency
For more than 30 years, we have been ensuring stable and energy-efficient environments in the food and agricultural and industrial sectors through high-performance air treatment that reduces costs, protects processes, and ensures the safety of your production operations.
Our passion: turning air, heat and energy into sustainable performance
For more than three decades, we have been designing air treatment and energy-efficiency solutions for demanding industries. Our mission: to build systems that cool your products, purify your air, and lower your energy bills.
Our approach: viewing your plant as a unified whole, where every airflow, every energy source, and every process influences the others. Our promise is based on two commitments: support from design through maintenance, and a guarantee of results.
A single supplier for your plant’s air, cooling, and energy needs
In many plants, air, cooling and energy systems are managed separately. One supplier handles ventilation. Another handles refrigeration. Yet another focuses on energy efficiency. On paper, each fulfills its mandate. But in a plant, these systems do not operate in isolation. They constantly influence one another.
Air quality affects process stability. Industrial refrigeration has a direct impact on energy consumption. Heat recovery, ventilation, humidity, pressure, temperature, and heat loads must all be considered together to achieve a truly efficient solution.
At Soteck Clauger, that’s exactly our approach. We design solutions that integrate air, cooling, and energy from the very beginning. A single engineering team analyzes the process requirements, building constraints, performance objectives, and operational impacts.
This comprehensive view enables us to make better technical decisions: choosing the right equipment, avoiding systems that interfere with one another, reducing losses, improving operational stability, and optimizing energy consumption. Our role isn’t just to install a system. It’s to understand how the entire plant breathes, cools, heats, recovers energy, and consumes it.
With Soteck Clauger, you have a partner able to connect the right levers: air, refrigeration, energy and process. One team. A holistic view. Solutions designed to work together.
Trois domaines, conçus ensemble
We view your plant as an integrated system, where air, cooling, energy, and processes constantly interact. The same principles apply in a cheese plant as in a manufacturing plant; only the constraints differ. Here’s what we install and what we guarantee in each of the three areas.
Hygienic air treatment
In a food processing plant, air is an ingredient. Its quality directly affects product shelf life, HACCP compliance, and your line productivity. We control temperature, humidity, filtration, and airflow in packaging areas, aging rooms, and processing lines.
In a manufacturing plant, the challenge takes on a different nature: the focus shifts to your workforce. You need to capture welding fumes at the source, hold a specified ISO cleanliness class, ventilate high-heat-load areas, and heat fresh air without driving up the bill. Our SoudAir system was developed to meet this need in 2004.
Our air treatment units are designed for production process areas: Access, with full internal access for cleaning; Climinox, made entirely of stainless steel and washable with a foam cannon or CIP; Cyclair, featuring cyclonic filtration of bacteria and dust; and Thygre, with automated cleaning. For air intake, EcoCTA features a fully welded circular design made of corrosion-resistant material suitable for food contact.
Before installation, Design’Air validates airflow and heat transfer through numerical simulation and 1:1-scale model testing. You’re buying performance, not just equipment.
Energy efficiency
Consume less and consume better, without compromising the quality of your products. The process begins with a site visit and a Flash Audit, followed by baseline metering and instrumentation, feasibility engineering and confirmation of eligible incentives; installation is then carried out without interrupting your production.
Our technologies: the Hi-PAC 85 and R1233ZD heat pumps, designed and manufactured in Quebec; the solar thermal wall for air preheating; heat recovery from refrigeration processes and compressors; and the reconditioning of plate heat exchangers.
Results are measured according to the IPMVP protocol and tracked in MyPortal3E, our energy management system connected to your equipment, your SCADA system, and your ERP. It publishes your GHG, EnPI and kWh-per-tonne indicators, in compliance with ISO standards and the GHG Protocol, and feeds directly into your ESG reports.
Industrial refrigeration using natural refrigerants
Refrigeration drives food safety, productivity and your energy costs over a twenty-year horizon. Our systems run on NH₃ and CO₂, which protects your investments from tightening regulations on HFCs.
The N-PAC series provides heating and cooling using NH₃, with integrated heat recovery. Ecoskid chillers reach 350 kW with glycol and 500 kW with water, and our subcritical CO₂ skids cover a range from 100 to 1,000 kW. For rapid cooling and blast freezing, the HEE Tunnel processes palletized products in continuous operation, and the SMO Spiral line integrates into automated production lines. Our conveyor-equipped cooling cells handle up to 20 pallets per hour, with traceability compatible with your WMS.
In cold storage and logistics, the same technologies ensure the integrity of the cold chain for larger volumes. Our largest system to date, a 1,600 hp cascade skid using NH₃ and CO₂, delivers 3,400 tons of refrigeration (TR).
The Hi-PAC 85 heat pump combines cooling and heating in a single unit: process cooling and hot water up to 85 °C, ready for immediate use in pasteurization, clean-in-place, and process preheating, with no combustion boiler.
7 Trades Under One Roof
In a typical project, these seven trades are handled by seven different contractors, and they meet at the site meeting. Here, they talk to each other before the drawings are frozen.
Quand un équipement coûte moins cher à l’achat mais plus cher à faire tourner, l’arbitrage se règle à l’interne.

- Commitment to results: optimized energy efficiency, tailored to your operations.
- Quality alignment: strict adherence to your production and food safety requirements.
- On-time delivery: integrated planning and coordination, within the agreed schedule.
- Budget control: managing costs and constraints on both a CAPEX and an OPEX basis.
Fund your projects with the savings they generate
Soteck Clauger is qualified as an energy services company (ESCO). In practice, we don’t just sell equipment: we quantify the savings, commit to them contractually, and can finance them.
Incentives and rebates, handled by our team
We identify the programs for which your project is eligible, prepare the technical application, and submit it before the deadline. Programs offered by Hydro-Québec, Énergir, and various government ministries are the most common in Quebec, and their parameters change from year to year. The incentive is incorporated into the project structure as early as the feasibility stage, not once the project has been approved.
Financing without an initial investment
For large-scale projects, our partnership with SOFIAC enables implementation without CAPEX. The contract is based on the savings achieved, measured according to the IPMVP protocol, over a 15-year period. The assets are transferred to you on day one, your borrowing capacity remains unaffected, and cash flow turns positive from commissioning.
What the measurement shows
The typical reduction observed in our projects ranges from 15% to 30% of energy consumption over the first twelve months, as measured by the IPMVP and tracked in MyPortal3E. The figure for your site, however, comes directly from the Flash Audit, not from an average.

A history of innovation and daring
Our journey has been marked by moments of which we are particularly proud.
1993: Soteck is founded
Sylvain Ouellette launched his company in Victoriaville with a clear vision: to rethink industrial energy efficiency. He designed rather than resold, working first with manufacturers in the region. The head office, the shops and the engineering team have never left the city.
2001: First aging room
Our first aging room at Fromagerie Côté marks our entry into the demanding world of the food industry. The aging process tolerates neither fluctuations in humidity nor compromises on sanitation. There, we learned to maintain stable conditions twelve months a year, and the dairy and cheese industry has been a part of our lives ever since.
2004: The new SoudAir
The launch of the SoudAir is a game-changer for welding stations. The air becomes cleaner, and energy savings are substantial. The SoudAir is our first signature product, designed and manufactured in our own shops. It also sets a company standard: when nothing on the market meets our needs, we design it ourselves.
2010: Welcome to the USA
We’re crossing into the U.S. market with the Ohio FreshEgg project, proving that our expertise translates well. This project requires us to adapt to a different regulatory framework and a different supply chain. Both have become part of our standard operating procedures, and the U.S. market has been part of our territory ever since.
2019: Joining Clauger
Our merger with Clauger marks the beginning of a new chapter, combining our knowledge of the Quebec market with global expertise. Soteck becomes the Group’s North American unit for hygienic air treatment and energy efficiency. We gain access to a global technology platform and an integrated manufacturing network, without relocating our decision-making or our teams outside of Quebec.
2022: MyPortal3E
Launch of MyPortal3E, our digital platform for monitoring, optimizing and guaranteeing the energy performance of our installations. A true industrial dashboard for our customers. Performance is no longer just a line item on a quote: it can be monitored in real time, plant by plant. It is this monitoring that makes the performance commitments we’re making today possible.
2023: A 1,600 hp skid
Commissioning of one of our largest systems to date: a 1,600 hp NH₃/CO₂ cascade skid capable of delivering 3,400 tons of refrigeration (TR). A demonstration of our capability and technical depth. The NH₃/CO₂ cascade system requires a precise design and trained teams for both commissioning and operation. This expertise allows us to offer natural refrigerants as a standard solution, rather than as an exception.
2024: First industrial heat pump delivered
First delivery of an industrial heat pump installed at Fromagerie La Chaudière, a sustainable solution that combines efficiency, heat recovery and tangible progress toward the energy transition. The waste heat from the refrigeration systems is used to meet the plant’s hot water needs rather than being vented to the roof. Our own shops build this line of equipment, including the Hi-PAC 85 heat pump.
2025: Direct-service industrial refrigeration
We’re expanding our industrial refrigeration services by adding several more refrigeration technicians to our teams. New service locations are opening, including one in Saint-Hyacinthe, at the heart of Quebec’s agri-food corridor. Refrigeration and air treatment services are now under one roof, with a single phone number to call. Our technicians are working closer to your plants, which shortens response times.
2026: We enter the cleanroom and distribute Sodistra.
With Valtria, the Clauger Group company specializing in cleanrooms, we are entering a new market. Turnkey containment areas and biosafety solutions open the door to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and microelectronics industries.
On the product side, we are becoming the exclusive distributor in Canada for Sodistra’s Saniclim® and Basiclim® units. Their one-piece polyester composite housing, which contains no screws or rivets, does not rust and can withstand harsh cleaning. Perfect for the food industry and our harsh winters.
Today, we are a team of more than 110 passionate people: engineers, technicians and project managers, all driven by the same goal: to create solutions that truly make a difference for you.
A greener future, together
We don’t just talk about sustainability. Our refrigeration systems use the natural refrigerants NH₃ and CO₂.
Our heat pumps recover heat from a cooling process and send it to hot water, pasteurization or clean-in-place systems.
Every solution we design must stand up to the decarbonization requirements of the future, not just those of today.
