Some people see further ahead. Sylvain Ouellette is one of them. When he founded Soteck in 1993, he already carried a clear vision: transform industry with solutions that are high-performing, sustainable and people-centered.
He did not innovate for the sake of innovating, but to build something solid that is good for the planet and for the people who work in this industry.

Early on, Sylvain understood that energy challenges could become growth opportunities. Rather than seeing constraints as barriers, he saw possibilities. His approach: observe, rethink, improve. Always with the goal of simplifying complexity and creating value where others couldn’t see it.
Among his most significant innovations is the performance guarantee: a clear, measurable promise that ties every project to concrete results. An industry first, and today, one of the cornerstones of Soteck Clauger’s DNA.

But beyond technology, people have always been at the heart of his approach. Sylvain built a strong team around him, united by shared values: respect, commitment, rigor… and plenty of passion.
He was never afraid to delegate, to trust, to encourage his people to go further. With him, you felt you had the right to try, innovate, make mistakes, then start again. His leadership is that of a builder: understated but solid, close to people, always looking toward the future.

For Sylvain, energy efficiency isn’t just about profitability. It’s about responsibility. Every project had to make a difference, both for the environment and for our clients’ performance.
He was among the first to invest in green technologies: heat recovery, intelligent automation, custom design adapted to the real challenges of industrial sites. He proved we could do better, without compromise.

Today, even as he enjoys a well-deserved retirement, Sylvain’s influence is everywhere at Soteck Clauger. In how we approach a project. In our collaborative culture. In that ever-present drive to go further: for our clients, our teams, our planet.
To honor this legacy, in 2023 we created a space in his image: the Sylvain-Ouellette Lounge.
